Hace un poco más de 365 días que no posteo
nada nuevo en el blog y hoy les traigo la explicación. El 2014 fue un año de darme
cuento de lo que estaba sucediendo, seguía trabajando como freelancer tratando
de mantener antiguos clientes en Guatemala, la razón? mis ilustraciones tienen
una clara tendencia y es la de representar a los niños indígenas en Guatemala.
Sin embargo no pude seguir trabajando de esa forma el tener un ingreso en
quetzales (moneda de Guatemala) no me permitió tener un ingreso rentable en los
Estados Unidos.
Después de analizada la situación me costó
tener que aceptar que debería cambiar la estrategia, pensé en dibujar algo más
genérico pero siempre llegue a la conclusión que mi pasión no es dibujar otra
cosa que no sea niñas y niños indígenas.
Ahora me encuentro con un trabajo fijo y
gracias a Dios tengo la oportunidad de tener la ilustración como el más bello
pasatiempo, ya no tengo que estresarme por fechas de entrega inhumanas, por
tener que esperar fechas de pago demoradas por trámites burocráticos ahora solo
me queda el disfrutar de mis pinceles a mi manera.
Es por eso que verán ilustraciones con
técnicas más libres ya que no tengo que adaptarme a ningún requisito
solicitado.
Llegue a entender que no tiene nada de malo
tener un empleo de oficina, ya que gracias a ese empleo puedo gozar de más
libertad en lo que más me gusta hacer…ilustrar.
Gracias a todos los que a pesar de ver el
silencio que reinaba siguen por aquí siguiendo el blog o la pagina de Facebook,
sentí inseguridad al tener que compartirles lo que sucedió pero ya era tiempo
de decirlo.

I haven’t post anything over a year now and
today I’m sharing why. The year 2014 was a year of having to open my eyes to
what was happening, I was still working as a freelancer keeping Guatemalan
clients, the reason? My illustration has a clear concept of representing
indigenous girls and boys from Guatemala. Never the less I couldn’t keep up
with that arrangement having an income in Quetzales (Guatemalan currency) and
having a cost of living in Dollars is a no-no formula.
After thinking and thinking ways of how I can
make it work I thought, what if I drew more generic themes, but I always ended
up thinking that my passion relies on representing my people…Guatemalans.
Long story short, now I have a steady income
working a full time job which gives me the opportunity to have the illustration
side as a great hobby, I don’t have to deal with crappy deadlines or having to
wait for a paycheck of something I finished two months ago. Now I have freedom,
there’s no client that rejects it’s just me…and I approve!
You will see now that my style is more lose,
I don’t have to follow any requirements and that makes me freakin’ happy.
I finally learned that there’s nothing wrong
about having a day job, thanks to that income I can enjoy my art.
Thanks to everyone that still follows the
blog and the Facebook page I was worried about sharing this, but it was time
for me to do it.
